Video Summary
Elise Atkinroad (NACU Senior Director of Professional Development) introduces NACU’s new Regulatory and Accreditation micro-credential, joined by subject matter experts Patty Resnick (past NACU Board President) and Joint Commission leaders Steven Masenko and Lauren Lentine. She explains NACU micro-credentials as flexible, self-paced, scenario-based programs mapped to the Healthcare Quality Competency Framework and designed for practical, job-ready skill building, culminating in a digital badge and certificate.

The session defines the regulatory and accreditation domain as high-stakes, cross-functional work that ensures compliance, supports survey preparation and execution, and sustains continuous readiness. Three competency areas are highlighted: operationalizing compliance processes; facilitating ongoing survey readiness through engagement, mock audits, and action plans; and leading organizations through surveys and corrective actions. Experts emphasize continuous readiness as essential to patient safety, the importance of organization-wide ownership, and key professional skills such as preparation, communication, and organization.

The program uses storytelling, expert insights, tools/templates, and practice opportunities to drive behavioral change. Five modules cover the accreditation landscape, planning and readiness assessments, managing on-site surveys, post-survey response and corrective actions, and a mastery lab that builds a “continuous readiness resource finder” (binder/playbook). An open-book assessment can be retaken during the six-month access period.

Enrollment is via NACU’s website ($359 members/$529 non-members). Completion earns a Credly badge/certificate plus 8 nursing CE and 8 CPHQ CE credits.
