Video Summary
A histogram (frequency plot) is a bar chart showing the distribution of a single variable by grouping values into categories (bins). Unlike a Pareto chart, where each bar represents a different variable, all histogram bars represent the same variable split into ranges. Histograms help assess central location (the tallest bar/peak), spread (how wide the data range is), and shape (skew or multiple peaks such as bimodal patterns suggesting different populations). They’re commonly used for measures like time, money, or scaled data (age, weight). Typically, more than 50 data points are needed. Histograms don’t show process stability; control charts do.
